A major refurbishment of the Assembly Inn in the centre of Bath has just been completed by Abbey Inns, the pub-owning subsidiary of Abbey Ales, the city’s only brewery.
Situated on Alfred Street – just off the Lansdown Road – it is one of four pubs currently operated by the company.
Said Alan Morgan, managing director of Abbey Ales, “It is a comprehensive refurbishment and one which we have completed in partnership with Punch Taverns. It represents a complete change from our more traditional Bath pubs, like The Star, Coeur de Lion and the Farmhouse, although it will obviously feature our own beers, including the famous Bellringer.”
The new manager is Frances Haley, who was previously at the Pig and Fiddle in Bath, and she has engaged a complete new team to work with her at the Assembly.

It seems that the Horseshoe pub in North Road, Combe Down is the latest Bath Pub under threat. Property developers Elysan have applied for planning permission to convert the building into five flats. The pub has been closed since August.
The Horseshoe has been a pub since 1875.
This potential change of use follows hard on the news that the Brains Surgery in Larkhall has been granted planning permission to be conveted into flats.
Other pubs in Bath that are currently up for sale include One Beaufort on the London Road, the Victoria Works on the Lower Bristol Road (which is currently shut), the Northend Inn, and the Bladud's Head in Larkhall.…
