Bath Food and Drink Festival – 3rd & 4th July

Bath Food and Drink Festival  2010

The Bath Food and Drink Festival comes to Royal Victoria Park located directly in front of the Royal Crescent on the first weekend in July 2010.

There will be over 140 exhibitors, from Abbey Ales to Zero Degrees by way of Jimmy’s Farm, Pieminister, and many, many other interesting suppliers of food and drink in the Real Ale Marquee and the Food Lovers Marquee.

As well as the exhibitors there will be talks, the Chef’s Kitchen, entertainers and much more besides.

Tickets for Adults are £6 for the day on the door, £4 if purchased in advance from the Bath Tourist Information Centre in Abbey Churchyard. Children under 16 have free entry, though they must be accompanied by an adult.

Chequers taken over by Marlborough Tavern Team

Joe Cussens and Justin Sleath, who transformed the Marlborough Tavern four years ago from quite an ordinary pub to an interesting and popular dining experience have bought and reopened the The Chequers Pub in Rivers Street in partnership with Head Chef Leigh Evans.

Four new restaurants to open at Southgate

Shoppers at Southgate will soon be able to enjoy food and drink along with their retail therapy, as a varied quartet of restaurants and cafes will be opening this summer at the £360-million development.

Multi-cuisine restaurant chain Jimmy Spices and independent shop Cake Cafe are among the new arrivals.

Caffe Nero will open its third outlet in the city, while PizzaExpress will launch a restaurant to complement its Barton Street site.

Cake Cafe is being launched by Poppy Clark and Mark Powell, who have run The Bridge Coffee Shop at Pulteney Bridge since 2008. The shop is to open on the 23rd of June and will specialise in fine cakes, while also serving coffee, baguettes, paninis, soup, quiche and cream teas.

Jimmy Spices, which began in the West Midlands, is a new name for Bath and serves Indian, Chinese, Thai and Italian cuisine served from an open-plan buffet kitchen where you pick and choose the ingredients and the chefs cook them for you on the spot

Bath FishWorks Restaurant closed

Fishworks at Green Street - Closure

The Green Street FishWorks Restaurant and Fishmongers has closed after a wrangle over the buildings redevelopment. This has nothing to do with recent financial problems associated with the FishWorks Company, and they are actively looking for new premises in Bath. The three London FishWorks Restaurants are operating normally.
