The Pub can be traced back to the late 18th century and was previously known as the Victoria Park Tavern after the opening of Victoria Park in the 1830’s.
It closed in August 2011 following faling sales. As of October 2013 plans are being drawn up to convert the pub into two homes, with a further two in the associated brewery building and store.
